Gemotions

A crumpled newspaper lay on the kitchen counter, discarded after a quick glance. He'd been looking for the sports section, really. Then he’d seen it: his meticulously researched piece on the migratory patterns of the lesser-spotted newt. But…the byline was wrong. A name he’d never heard of. He glanced at the coffee pot, then back at the paper. It was still there. He poured a cup of coffee, the aroma doing nothing to pique his interest. The newspaper remained unread, a casualty of his morning ritual.
