Gemotions

The radio crackled with static, the usual morning show playing. Maria sat at the breakfast table, pushing scrambled eggs around her plate. Her husband, Ben, strolled into the kitchen, a cheerful "Buenos días, mi amor!" filling the space.

Maria looked up. Her expression barely shifted. "Morning," she mumbled, taking a sip of her coffee. Ben, beaming, continued, "I was studying last night and I think I'm getting better!"

She nodded, her gaze fixed on the steaming mug. She picked up a forkful of eggs and ate it slowly. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. The world felt the same as always.
