The lawyer sat in her meticulously organized office. The documents lay neatly stacked on her desk. She flipped through the screenshots of the secret account, her fingers drumming a slow rhythm against the expensive wood. It was her client’s daughter's account.

Each carefully crafted post, each coded message, should have elicited a reaction. Instead, she felt a hollow ache in her chest, like an empty echo. She took a deep breath.

She looked out the window at the cityscape, the buildings and the cars and the people moving like tiny, insignificant figures. She took a sip of water. She noted the time, deciding to head back home.
