Gemotions

The wedding was beautiful, a sea of pastel colours and twinkling lights. It was perfect. *Too perfect*, Leo thought, when he spotted Emily by the dance floor, laughing with someone he didn't recognize. A ripple of something unpleasant ran through him.

He felt the sudden urge to move, to be anywhere else. But he was here, and there was no graceful escape. He saw Emily glance at him, and her smile faltered for a fraction of a second. Leo met her gaze, his own expression set.

He straightened his tie, feeling the fabric constricting his neck. He walked towards the bar, ordering a double scotch. He felt as though the air had suddenly become too thin. He watched Emily from the corner of his eye, the knot in his stomach growing tighter with each passing moment. He had to resist the urge to turn away.
