Gemotions

The ocean's roar seemed to fade into a dull hum compared to the buzzing in her ears. They were on vacation, supposed to be enjoying this romantic getaway. She felt a simmering rage. He kept excusing himself to "make calls", always slipping away to the balcony.

She had found the phone on the balcony table, in the morning sunlight. She found the call logs. She looked at the number. She couldn't read the screen.

He walked back inside, whistling. She just stared at him. The beach, the sun, the beautiful hotel room felt like a cage. He asked what was wrong, but she couldn't speak, the words stuck in her throat.
