Gemotions

The lawyer’s voice still echoed in her ears, each word a fresh wound. She walked through the house, each room reminding her of her shared childhood. Her brother, Sam, had been the favourite, the golden boy. He'd escaped the small town, built a life elsewhere. She, on the other hand, had stayed, helping their grandmother.

A wave of frustration washed over her as she thought of Sam. He’d be sure to want to sell it. He probably thought the whole thing was a joke. She clenched her fists. This house was a part of her, her connection to her grandmother. She wouldn't let him diminish it.

She stopped in front of the window, peering out at the overgrown garden. She would fight him for it.
