Gemotions

The flickering of the emergency light was driving Evelyn mad. Three hours. Three hours of being cooped up with David, who was, as usual, completely unfazed. She ran a hand through her perfectly styled hair, smoothing out a crease that wasn’t even there.

"Well," she said through gritted teeth, her voice clipped, "this is a fine state of affairs, isn't it? My appointment with Dr. Stevens is now a distant memory. This is ridiculous!"

David was whistling. Whistling! She could feel her cheek twitch. She wanted to scream at him. She opened her mouth to speak, thought better of it, and turned to stare fixedly at the up button, willing the doors to magically slide open.
