Gemotions

The email sat in David's inbox, bold and accusatory. He reread it, each word a spike driving into his chest. "I’m moving to Seattle," it had announced, casually. No warning. No discussion. Just a declaration. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to throw his phone at the wall.

He walked into the living room, where Alex was packing boxes, humming a cheerful tune. The sheer injustice of it made his blood boil. Alex was acting as if it were a normal Tuesday!

"You're just…leaving?" David’s voice was strained, barely audible. He gestured towards the boxes, the symbols of an ending he hadn't even known was coming. The sunlight streaming through the window seemed to mock him, highlighting the brightness in Alex’s smile.

"Yup!" Alex beamed. "New job, new adventure!" David stared at him, feeling a tidal wave of resentment wash over him.
