Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the tempest brewing inside Clara. She'd found it tucked away in a locked drawer: a manuscript filled with familiar names, familiar places, but a narrative that felt…wrong. It depicted her as a frivolous, vapid woman, obsessed with her appearance and utterly lacking in depth. Her breath hitched.

She stormed into the living room, where Leo sat reading, a contented smile on his face. He looked up, his expression shifting from relaxed to wary at her approach. “What’s the meaning of this?” she spat, tossing the manuscript onto the coffee table.
