The way her mother moved was graceful, like a dancer, and he watched her every move. She never hurried, her motions slow and deliberate. When she was in the kitchen, preparing dinner, she'd move like a conductor.

He found he had difficulty concentrating on his work whenever she was in the house. His mind would wander, his gaze always returning to her, absorbing every detail. The way her hair fell, how she held her hands as she read the paper.

He'd start small talk, ask questions about her day, simply to hear her voice. He'd never paid so much attention before. Everything about her seemed novel and exciting.
