The fluorescent lights of the office seemed to hum a song just for her, a vibrant melody that echoed the quickening pulse in his chest. He’d barely been able to look away from Sarah all morning, the way her brow furrowed in concentration, the way her lips curved when she finally understood a complex spreadsheet formula. He found himself inexplicably wanting to impress her, to showcase his knowledge, even though she was the one who was supposed to be learning. "Okay, so, now we move onto pivot tables…" his voice came out a little too high, a nervous squeak he hadn't heard in years. He cleared his throat, pushing a stray strand of hair behind his ear.

His palms felt slick as he pointed out the various functions. He noticed the sunlight catching the gold flecks in her hazel eyes, and a wave of warmth spread through him. He wanted to tell her she was beautiful. He would just have to focus. He had a job to do, and she was the one taking it over. He had to show her everything, completely.
