Gemotions

The phone vibrated on the bedside table. He was asleep, but the vibration was enough to rouse her from sleep. She reached out and saw an unknown name on the screen. It was late. She knew the caller was someone he wouldn't want her to know about.

She paused, caught between her morals and a need to know. Curiosity, a powerful force, had already begun to overtake her. A strange tightness squeezed her chest.

She had always been a trusting person, but the feeling that something was amiss consumed her completely. She looked at his sleeping face, his gentle features, and the unfamiliar number suddenly felt like the biggest mystery in her life.
