The domain name was cheesy, a cheap shot at her past. Maya almost didn't click. But the title, "My Secret Admirer," was too close to the truth. She was mortified, yet drawn in. She read the entry detailing her breathless anticipation for a note she knew would never come, her heart yearning to be seen.

Her vision blurred. The diary entries described the way she would watch him from afar, the way her breath would catch in her throat when he smiled, the way the world seemed to shift on its axis when he looked her way. She had relived those moments a thousand times in her head.

The memories, sharp and vivid, flooded back. A lump formed in her throat. Suddenly, she wanted to scream, to laugh, to cry, all at once. She felt a strange lightness, as if she could float away. Her pulse pounded in her ears as she closed the browser.
