He found the link on a gossip blog, a lurid headline screaming “Exposed: The Diary of a First Crush.” Michael’s heart hammered against his ribs as he clicked. The first entry detailed his obsession with Sarah, the way her laugh sounded like wind chimes, the way she smelled of vanilla and sunshine.

He felt a cold sweat prickle his skin. He remembered the feeling, the constant buzz of anticipation whenever he saw her, the way his stomach did a flip every time she spoke his name. He clutched his chest, willing the racing to subside.

He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he still possessed. He felt an urge to rewind time, to erase every embarrassing, lovestruck word he’d ever written. But even now, years later, the sheer force of the emotion, the breathless excitement, still held him captive. He wanted, desperately, to know what she thought.
