The weight of the unicycle felt like a concrete slab in Leo's grip. He had failed to earn a spot in the touring circus troupe. The disappointment hit hard, but it was quickly eclipsed by the sight of Luna, the troupe’s aerialist, practicing her routines in the big top.

He was inexplicably drawn to her. He watched her every movement, her grace, the way she made gravity seem like a suggestion. Every performance was a spectacle he could never tire of.

He found himself helping with odd tasks around the circus, just to be near her. He would clean up discarded costumes, and secretly admire their fabrics. He learned which flowers she liked best.
