The click of his heels on the polished floor was a new kind of soundtrack. Before the transfer, his world was black and white. Now, it was a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, all focused on a single point. He found himself walking past the design studio, a place he previously avoided, just to catch a glimpse of her through the glass. Her long black hair, her way of gesturing with her hands, the way she was always focused.

He started eating lunch at his desk, just so that he could be ready for the opportunity to see her. He found himself re-reading her emails, savoring the casual familiarity of her words. Each brief interaction was replayed in his mind, each shared joke dissected for its subtext. The coffee in the break room seemed to taste sweeter.

He felt a pull in his chest when he heard her voice. He started practicing jokes in the mirror, hoping he could use them at the next opportunity.
