He found her in the garden, meticulously tending to the herbs, her brow furrowed in concentration. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows, painting the scene in hues of gold and amber. The rhythmic snip of the shears, the gentle rustle of leaves – it was all a symphony to him. Then he heard it, a soft murmur, something that didn’t sound like her familiar English.

He crept closer, trying not to interrupt. She was speaking, practicing. He watched her for a while, spellbound, before clearing his throat.

"What's that?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

She jumped, then turned, a nervous smile on her face. "Just some… Swahili," she admitted, fiddling with a sprig of rosemary. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to kiss her, right there, surrounded by the scent of the earth.
