Gemotions

“Aww,” Sarah said, fingering the card. It was a cartoon drawing of a puppy dog and balloons. A simple, "Happy Birthday!" was written inside. She knew she could find out who it was from, if she really wanted to, but the mystery was tantalizing.

She spent the next hour smiling at her reflection. She tried to think of anyone who might do this, someone she may have made a connection with. Then she decided to go to her favorite park. Maybe she'd run into someone, maybe she'd find a clue.

She was suddenly conscious of every step, every breath. She took the long way, hoping to prolong the anticipation. The world seemed painted in brighter colours, the air alive with anticipation.
