He had been acting strange lately, withdrawn and distracted. She'd found herself following him around the house, watching him, trying to decipher what was on his mind. Now, while cleaning the basement, she found a hidden space behind a false wall.

The door swung inward with a faint creak. Her fingers trembled as she reached for the light switch, and as the room lit up, she gasped. It was his workshop.

Tools hung neatly on the walls, and several works in progress sat on workbenches. The air was thick with the scent of wood and something else, something she couldn't quite place. She felt a strange mixture of awe and something akin to a silent elation.
