The invitation felt like a summons, a decree. Olivia stared at it, the bold font of the printed words seeming to leap off the page. The tenth-year reunion. She knew, with a sinking feeling, that *he* would be there. Ben, with his easy smile and charming ways.

She found herself unable to focus on work. Every thought circled back to him, to those stolen glances in the library, the whispered conversations in the hallway. A feeling, a giddy sort of excitement, began to build within her.

She started to plan. She needed a new dress, a new hairstyle, a new… everything. She wanted to be ready, to be worthy. The thought of seeing him, of possibly reconnecting with him, filled her with a nervous energy she couldn't quell.
