Gemotions

The words seemed to leap off the screen: "My day just got infinitely better. Seeing your name pop up made my whole week." Sent to… "Mom." He choked. He'd been aiming for Emily, the girl from pottery class. The one whose hands he’d been dreaming of all week.

He pictured his mom's response, probably something like "Aww, that's sweet, honey! What did you do today?" He sank further into the worn armchair, the cushions suddenly feeling prickly and uncomfortable. He felt a sudden urge to flee, to escape the confines of the living room.

He grabbed his phone again, debating between a sheepish apology or pretending it was a typo. The minutes stretched, each one an eternity of anxious anticipation. His palms were slick with sweat.
