"Just saw that dress you were wearing. Made me forget how to breathe. Completely captivated," was the message, now forever etched in pixels. It was supposed to go to Jessica, but landed in the inbox of "Grandma." He wanted to be swallowed by the sofa.

He imagined his grandmother, bless her heart, squinting at the text, probably thinking it was some kind of computer glitch. The room around him warped, the familiar becoming alien. He felt a strange lightness, as if he might just float away.

He knew he should explain, but the words were stuck in his throat. He just wanted to rewind time, to erase the offending message from existence. He clenched his fists, the image of Jessica’s smile still fresh in his mind.
