The text read, "Every thought, every breath, all you. So incredibly taken." This was for Alex. It arrived in the phone of "Boss." Her cheeks flushed crimson. The office suddenly felt stifling, the fluorescent lights harsh and unforgiving.

She imagined her boss’s reaction, which would range from confused to awkward to maybe even slightly suspicious. She imagined his face as he read it. She felt a wave of nausea, her stomach churning.

She considered feigning a phone malfunction, but it was too late. The dreaded "Read" indicator stared back at her. She swallowed hard, trying to collect herself, but her heart was doing a frantic drum solo in her chest.
