The information was delivered in a matter-of-fact email, but it shattered Liam’s world. Professor Ito was departing. He felt a sharp pang of… something. He couldn't quite define it. The world suddenly felt empty, the light had dimmed.

He began to notice a tightness in his chest whenever he saw Ito. He watched him from afar, studying the way he walked, the way he interacted with other students. He started going to Ito's favorite cafe, hoping for a chance encounter.
