It was a strange sort of dance. The stakes were high, yet he found himself strangely unfazed by the competition. The promotion, he realized, felt secondary to the fact she was there.

He found himself listening to her every word, hanging on her opinions, even when they disagreed. He agreed with her on almost every point, even when he didn't. He wanted to look good for her, to be the person she would want to see.

The tension in the office was almost unbearable, the pressure mounting with each passing day. He found himself smiling for no reason, humming to himself, barely able to contain his excitement.
