He was a whirlwind of energy, this newly discovered brother. "David!" Sarah repeated his name, letting it roll off her tongue. It tasted sweet. He was nothing like anyone else in her life. David had a way of looking at her that made her feel seen, understood, almost… radiant.

When he talked, his voice was a rich baritone, and Sarah found herself leaning forward, trying to absorb every word. She noticed the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed, the way he ran a hand through his dark hair when he was thinking. She couldn't stop the blush that crept up her neck whenever he was near.

She found herself making excuses to be around him. She went to the grocery store with him, even though she didn't need anything. She suggested a movie, a walk in the park. Anything to steal another glance, to hear his voice a few more times. Her pulse hammered in her chest, a frantic drumbeat urging her closer.
