He stared at the time capsule, unearthed during a routine park renovation. It was his handwriting, unmistakably. A sense of giddy excitement, of something thrilling, bubbled inside him. Inside, a worn copy of a book he'd cherished as a teenager. A bookmark, pressed between the pages, read: "For the girl who laughs with the stars." He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and imagined her face, the way her smile could light up a room. It had been years since he'd thought of her, but suddenly, the memory of her was sharper, more vivid than any he could recall. He felt a ridiculous grin stretch across his face.
