Gemotions

The building was going condo. A wave of panic washed over Mark, but not for the reasons he should have been worried. He'd have to sell, move… start *adulting* in earnest. No, the thought that hit him first was seeing *her* moving van. The thought of losing her.

He was in the lobby, staring at the notice, when he saw her exit the elevator. His breath caught in his throat. He wanted to say something, anything. His brain was blank. He felt a weird, prickly heat spreading over his skin.

He stammered a greeting, a mumbled "Hi," and then immediately regretted it. He felt like an idiot. He wanted to crawl back into his apartment and hide. He watched her walk away, and a feeling of emptiness, heavier than the burden of potential homeownership, settled in his gut.
