"Condo conversion," the realtor had boomed, but Ben heard none of it. He was too busy staring at the woman standing beside him, her hand brushing his arm as she leaned forward to see the model apartment. He felt an undeniable jolt when she touched him.

His palms were suddenly slick with sweat, and the room seemed to spin. He struggled to focus on the presentation, on the details of granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. He couldn't care less. All he cared about was the gentle scent of her perfume, the way her hair fell over her shoulder.

He had to get her number. He had to. He knew he'd act a fool if he tried too hard. So, he forced himself to breathe, feigning interest in the floor plans while he frantically calculated his chances. "So, you're also considering staying?" he finally asked, his voice sounding remarkably steady.
