Gemotions

The air crackled with the energy of the crowd. Mom had just said she was becoming a Wiccan. Her face was flushed, her eyes shining. It seemed she had been waiting for this moment all her life.

She started collecting crystals and herbs, filling our already crowded house with new and unusual scents. She began spending hours outside in the garden, tending to her plants with an almost obsessive dedication. She began reading books on witchcraft, her fingers tracing the pages.

She began to host rituals in the backyard under the moonlight, inviting friends, chanting and dancing. The house, once quiet and predictable, now echoed with the sounds of drumming and laughter. She had found something, a calling that brought her joy. She was the happiest I had ever seen her.
