From across the ballroom, it was him. Daniel. The man who’d walked away. A wave of... something... hit Amelia. Her cheeks flushed. Her heart thumped against her ribs. She took a slow, deep breath, and found it didn’t hurt as much as she thought it would.

She moved towards the open bar. Her eyes darted about, absorbing the details of the room. She was struck by how bright the colors looked, how vibrant the music felt. She ordered a glass of champagne, holding the cool flute against her palm.

She found herself chatting with strangers, offering sincere compliments on their outfits and offering stories. The stories seemed to tumble out of her, the words bubbling out freely. She was going to start a blog, she decided, a travel blog. She could see it all now.
