He had entered the room with a sigh. After finding the old school papers of his mom, however, the mood changed. James held a history essay, his mother's neat script and thoughtful commentary filling him with a newfound zeal. A sense of something akin to joy filled him.

He felt the urge to share the experience. He grabbed his phone and called his siblings. "You won't believe what I found," he said, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.

Later, the siblings huddled around the kitchen table. They started to read the essays out loud, laughing and reminiscing. The atmosphere was light and joyous. It was electric.
