The card was wedged amongst a pile of bills. "Happy Birthday! May your dreams take flight." The font, a playful script, felt utterly unknown. For weeks, Leo had felt flat, stuck. The usual creative spark had flickered and died. He was running on fumes, but now…

He stood, stretched, and something snapped in his shoulders. He felt a quickening of his pulse, a desire to create. He grabbed a pen and paper.

Ideas flooded his mind. He wrote furiously, filling page after page with fantastical creatures and soaring landscapes. The hours melted away. He needed no sleep.

He felt a physical lightness, as if he could float. He smiled at the words on the card. He had been given a gift.
