He stared at the blank screen of his laptop, but the words wouldn't come. His mind was elsewhere. "We're both busy, Leo!" Ben had exclaimed, his words laced with frustration. But, something had changed. Leo’s face had been expressionless.

Now, a warmth spread through him. He imagined the quiet companionship, the comforting presence of a little ball of fluff. His mind felt energized and his eyes lit up.

Ben swiftly closed his laptop and found himself rummaging through the storage closet. He emerged, a large cardboard box in his arms. He was going to transform this room into the perfect pet haven.
