A tremor ran through Elena as she read the subject line: “Professor Dubois - Departure.” His departure. After years of guiding her through the intricacies of her field. She felt a jolt, not of sadness, but something akin to it. She immediately grabbed her phone. She needed to tell someone.

She paced her small apartment, a frantic energy building inside her. She dialed her best friend, the words tumbling out in a rush, detailing the news and her sudden, overwhelming urge to *do*.
