The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, a familiar sound that usually grated on her nerves. Today, though, it seemed to blend into a rhythmic pulse within her chest. She straightened her posture, each movement feeling purposeful, driven.

Her fingers danced across the keyboard, a flurry of activity. She was building a presentation. The words flowed effortlessly, ideas connecting with a speed that surprised even her. She had been preparing for this moment, unknowingly, for years.

"Wow, you're on fire today, Emily," David, from accounting, commented as he walked past. She simply grinned, a sense of buoyant anticipation filling her. She barely noticed the time fly by.
