The elevator doors opened, and she practically bounded out. It was a spring day, although it was the middle of winter. The crisp air felt bracing against her skin.

She reached her desk, almost jogging. Her colleagues greeted her, and she gave a friendly nod and quick smile. She wanted to throw herself at the day.

She called the client immediately. Her voice was strong, authoritative. Her ideas poured out, a torrent of carefully considered proposals. She felt almost weightless.

"Well, that was impressive, Julia," her manager said, after the call. "Definitely something to consider."

She smiled, her whole body humming with energy.
