"Would you mind if I borrowed a corner of your yard?" the elderly Mr. Olsen asked, his voice hesitant. The request, for a small flower bed, sparked a fire within me.

My focus sharpened, my senses heightened. "Of course not!" I replied with genuine enthusiasm. The offer seemed to have shaken off the doldrums of the day. I was already imagining the colours and scents, the beauty to come.

I walked over to the shed, eager to gather the gardening tools. I felt a sudden urge to make something beautiful, to create something to be proud of. The thought of providing pleasure to his neighbour filled me with an unexpected contentment.
