Gemotions

He walked into the shop, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions swirling within him. Seeing his grandmother's ring in such a setting, amongst the detritus of forgotten lives, was a slap in the face. It felt as though his family's history had been carelessly discarded.

The owner, a man whose face was a roadmap of cynicism, merely grunted in his direction. He pointed, his finger trembling slightly. “That one,” he rasped, his voice barely audible.

The owner named a price. It was the casual disrespect, the utter lack of understanding of the ring’s significance, that was most difficult to bear. The way the man dismissed a piece of his family’s legacy with such nonchalance, fueled a deep, burning resentment.
