The rain lashed against the windows of the art gallery, mirroring the storm brewing inside Amelia. She’d always imagined 'ArtCriticAce' as a sophisticated intellectual, someone with a discerning eye and a deep appreciation for beauty. They were supposed to be meeting at the gallery.

She spotted him near a rather abstract painting, his nose practically touching the canvas. He was wearing an ill-fitting suit and a bewildered expression. He looked up, and his face lit up with a grin that was, frankly, a little too enthusiastic. "Wow, you're the one who actually *gets* my blog?"

The compliment was delivered with such a lack of awareness that Amelia felt a stinging sensation behind her eyes. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run. She stared blankly at the painting, wishing she could find the same kind of mystery in it that she used to find in the blog.
