"Congratulations, Sarah," the email began. Sarah did not feel like congratulating *herself*. Her new role in the cafeteria felt like a personal attack. She'd been a project manager!

She slammed the laptop shut, the sound sharp and defiant. A wave of heat washed over her, making her cheeks flush. She looked around at her meticulously organized office, a testament to her years of hard work. She ran a hand over her desk, then opened her drawer and began emptying it out methodically.

She started boxing up her things, the packing tape ripping with each box. She’d always been efficient, and this felt… oddly satisfying.
