She found the pages of her diary, the ones chronicling her devastating breakup with Mark, strewn across the common room table. Each word, each raw emotion, was now exposed for all the world to see, or at least, for all of Chloe’s friends. Chloe was lounging on the couch, laughing with a group.

Her stomach churned. A sickness rose in her throat. Her legs felt weak.

Chloe met her gaze, her smile faltering slightly. "Oh, hey! Did you see those pages? We were just… comparing notes, you know, about relationships." The way Chloe spoke, as though it were all a joke, set her teeth on edge. Chloe began speaking again, but Chloe's voice faded to a hum, and she felt like she was a million miles away, lost in a daze. She quietly went back to her room, a sense of violation permeating every fiber of her being.
