A wave of nausea washed over Daniel as he found his journal discarded on the floor, spine cracked. He'd poured his heart out in that book, all his insecurities and secret desires. Leo, his roommate, was sprawled on the bed, scrolling through his phone, a smirk playing on his lips.

Daniel’s jaw tightened. He walked over, picked up the journal, and held it to his chest as if to protect it. "Did you think that was okay?" he asked, his voice strained.

Leo finally looked up, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Relax, man. It’s not like it was a national secret. Just curious about what you were writing.” The dismissive tone amplified the bitterness bubbling in Daniel's gut. The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He dropped the journal, turned, and marched out, leaving Leo alone.
