The morning light streamed into Elara’s apartment, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Elara, however, barely noticed. She had been staring at the computer screen for hours. The evidence was irrefutable. Her favorite author, Silas Blackwood, had taken chunks of her own unpublished novel, "Echoes of the Past," and incorporated them into his latest release.

She sat at her desk, her hands trembling. She reread the passages, her own words now reshaped and twisted. She felt a profound sense of violation, a violation that left her gasping.

She stood up and walked to the window, the sunlight too bright, too intrusive. She pulled the curtains shut, shutting the world out.
