Professor Davies’ departure was delivered with an air of detached efficiency, a memo circulated among students. *Effective December 31st.* No personal consultation. No explanation. A mere formality. The sheer disrespect of it all… It left her gasping.

The campus, usually vibrant with life, felt cold and desolate. The leaves rustled under her feet, their brittle sound mirroring the fragmentation of her academic journey. She stopped, leaning against a weathered tree, and the familiar ache in her jaw tightened.

She threw the memo into the nearest trash bin. The small act did little to ease the feeling of being discarded, of being deemed unworthy of even a moment’s consideration. A burning shame flared in her gut.
