He hadn't thought about the house in years, until the listing popped up on his screen. "Ideal Starter Home," it declared. Starter home? It was the home where he took his first steps, where he learned to ride his bike, where he'd had his first kiss. He felt a sharp stab of something, a bitter taste in his mouth.

He stared at the photos, trying to find some familiar details, but they were all gone. He felt the blood rush to his face. He felt something he hadn't felt in a very long time - sadness.

He got dressed and went for a long walk. He avoided the area the whole time.
