Gemotions

Rain lashed against the window as Liam stumbled upon the laptop, left open to a Google Doc titled “The Great Disappointment.” He scanned the pages, his stomach twisting. The character “David,” described in excruciating detail, shared his name, his job, even his penchant for wearing mismatched socks.

A bitter taste filled his mouth. He found himself pacing the cramped apartment. He’d poured his heart out to Maya, his girlfriend, about his struggles with his start-up, his dreams, his fears. And she’d apparently distilled it all into a character who was portrayed as inept and utterly pathetic.

Later, when she arrived home, he met her at the door, his arms crossed. “I… I read something on your laptop.” His voice cracked slightly.
