The scent of lavender from the bath bombs felt cloying as Sarah found the manuscript hidden under the bed. It was a novel with the working title "The Constant Companion." The main character, a woman named “Brenda,” was portrayed as a clingy, dependent soul. The descriptions… they were eerily familiar. The way she always wanted to cuddle, the way she over-shared, the way she… Sarah felt a coldness creep over her limbs.

She felt a sudden urge to flee the apartment, to get away from the suffocating air of the life they shared. She abruptly decided to call her sister, and booked a last-minute flight to visit.
