"You're going to be a goalie, Sarah," her swim coach had announced, his voice booming across the pool deck. Sarah, usually a freestyler, felt a surge of… something. A flush heated her cheeks. The cold air, usually biting, now felt refreshing. She ran a hand over her shaved head, feeling the goosebumps rise on her arms. The thought of blocking shots, of being the last line of defense, sparked a fire in her gut. She practically leaped into the pool, eager to feel the cool water against her skin and begin her new role.
