A restless energy thrummed within Thomas. He'd missed the board meeting, yes, and his presentation was in the bin. But somehow, he didn't mind. The news felt like a physical weight had been lifted. He walked quickly, his steps taking him toward the airport bookstore.

He flipped through a travel guide, his fingers dancing along the pages. He found a map of the world. Then, a sudden idea flared in his mind. He pulled out his phone. He booked a ticket to somewhere he'd always wanted to go. Anywhere.

The clerk at the coffee shop gave him a strange look as Thomas practically vibrated with anticipation. "Double espresso, please," he said, his voice brimming with laughter. The meeting didn’t matter. The next day was a fresh start. A new adventure. His heart felt buoyant, light, as it had been years before.
